Confidentiality and Privacy
All employees of the Inland Revenue Department are expected to treat as secret, all information which may come into their possession or to their knowledge in the course of their duties. As a taxpayer, you therefore have the right to expect that the personal and financial information which you provide to the Department will be kept confidential and will be used only for purposes allowed by law.
It is the Department's policy to confirm the identity and authorisation of all parties before releasing any confidential information regarding their tax matters. If legal action is taken however, certain aspects of your tax affairs, such as the amount due and the type of tax owed, will be recorded in the legal document.
